Dinosaurs Have a Long Horn Mexico

The research team comprised of University of Utah paleontologist and Museum of Natural History, Utah, United States, discovered a new species of dinosaur, called Coahuilaceratops magnacuerna. The dinosaur, which lived around 72 million years ago in the vicinity of Mexico to the western part of North America.

Experts estimate, the dinosaur about 22 feet in length or 6.7 meters, about two meters tall and weighs about 4.5 tons. Interestingly, at the head, just above the eyes of the horned dinosaurs, there are approximately 122 centimeters in length. "Horn was the longest for this type of dinosaur," Mark Loewen, paleontologists from the Utah Museum of Natural History.

The researchers found fossils of this plant-eating animals in the layers of rock formations Cerro del Pueblo, in the Desert Coahuila, Mexico. Expedition and intensive research to find the trail Coahuilaceratops magnacuerna been done since 2002 until 2003 and then in the Coahuila desert. This research was funded by the National Geographic Society and the University of Utah, USA.

"This discovery is very important and add to our knowledge of dinosaurs that lived in Mexico. This discovery is also a critical element in uncovering ancient mysteries of this island continent, "said Scott Sampson of the Utah Museum of Natural History. The plan, a horned dinosaur species will be published in the book New Perspectives on horned dinosaur, which was launched next week.
